What is Reiki?
Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese word, which loosely translated means Universal Life Energy. Today Reiki is the name given to a system of natural healing which was developed by Dr Mikao Usui in Japan at the turn of the last century.
Dr Usui spent most of his life studying ancient wisdom, meditating and teaching students how to work with this life energy. Today Reiki continues to be taught by Reiki Masters who have trained in the tradition passed down from Master to student.
A Reiki Treatment
Reiki treatment a very simple process. The recipient simply lies on a couch or relaxes in a chair whilst the practitioner gently places their hands on or over the body in various positions and channels healing energy into the patient. The whole person is treated rather than specific symptoms, although special attention may be given to problem areas. A full treatment usually takes up to 1 hour.
During treatment the client often feels the healing energy as heat coming from the practitioners hands and will often feel a complete sense of relaxation and calm.
Which conditions can Reiki help?
It is possible to heal at any level of being: physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
I have treated clients with symptoms ranging from specific aches and pains or injuries, low energy, anxiety and stress, feeling generally 'under the weather', as well as treating clients who just want to come and relax and enjoy the peace and attention.
Whether you have a specific injury or illness, or you just want to find some inner peace and time away from the stresses of modern living, Reiki is a wonderful therapy.
